Sick Society.

Ok im guessing you guys have heart about the Wee Shu Min case. If you havent, : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sg_Review/messages/2720?xm=1&m=e&l=1 .

She(Or He?) thinks that she's part of the elite. Now what kind of an attitude is that? Is this the type of students we in singapore are breeding? Naive and heartless degenerates who grow up becoming spoilt brats feeling that they are above others? I think its becoming very evident that our moral values are being corroded. Sure the education system aims to nurture talent and academics, but without a proper moral base these things mean nothing.

Now we can see that in the post she criticises Derek's english, implying her english is of a much higher standard. What poppycock she speaks... Many people my age (16) could easily out-debate her and her very essay-orientented english. Someone might be in RJC and the like, but still be the lowest ranking human being on earth because of his/her poor ability to associate with others. Life on earth is not about proving how academically superior we are, rather it is about helping each other out and being there when someone needs you. Your so called successes on earth are just material things people do to satisfy themselves.

She also claims to have a brighter future than most people. In terms of what? I wonder if she has accomplished anything significant thus far. Worked at an orphanage? Aided the disabled? or even helped an old lady cross the road? Now i'm talking about doing these things on a voluntary basis, not a compulsory field trip some school organises.

THE APOLOGY.

So anyway her father came up with an apology: http://thewormiepage.wordpress.com/2006/10/25/a-lesson-learnt-says-mp-and-dad-wee-siew-kim

This is really distressing. Do we really have such uncaring ministers unwilling to compromise and take time off to understand the state of society in singapore? We learn in schools, especially in propaganda-infused social study text books that singapore is a melting pot not just of various races, but of different social classes as well. However here we have someone who is evidently highly discriminate towards a certain social class.

What is this tiny island coming to when leaders and students are nurtured in a spoilt environment to become extremely critical of others? I guess only time will tell..
